Spring has really started nicely. And planning your next trip is probably in order. What is becoming increasingly popular are holidays where walking is central. If you explore an area at walking pace, you can really take the time to observe what kind of nature and culture there is.
Popular and fun destinations are the Alps, Picos de Europa or Iceland. But for all these destinations you need different gear. Let Peak Performance deliver the most suitable gear!🌍🎒
The essential thing you are actually doing with wearing suitable hiking gear is dealing with perspiration. If it is 23 degrees and you are hiking in Northern Spain, then you will only need a pair of hiking shorts and a breathable hiking shirt . It is also nice to have a lightweight breathable cap with you for the sun. ☀️
But if you are hiking at a reasonable altitude in France, but it is not very cold. 10-20 degrees or so. Then you can choose to wear hiking leggings or hiking pants to block the wind a bit. As a top you wear a breathable sweater , on top of your breathable shirt. It is important that your clothes do not retain moisture. 💧
Because if your clothes retain moisture, this means that eventually your skin will also get wet. And once you are wet, you can catch a cold quite quickly, even if it is not very cold. Water is a very good conductor of heat, and your body heat disappears very quickly through your wet skin to the outside air. ❄️
Are you exploring the vast green valleys of Iceland? Then it is smart to take a lightweight rain jacket with you for over the rest of your outfit. It rains here quite often. And although breathable clothing handles your perspiration very well, it does not handle rain very well. ☔️
