Where, how and when do I bring my material?
Where:
You can return your material to one of our stores, where you can also pick up the material.
How:
All material must be returned without bag and accessories. Snowboards are accepted without bindings. We can remove these for you on site and possibly reassemble them for you when you pick them up.
When:
Depending on the conditions during the winter sports, it is advisable to have maintenance done after about a week. When only fresh snow has been slid through, the steel edges have suffered less than in icy conditions. At the end of the season with warmer temperatures, the snow is much wetter and absorbs much more to the base. Then it may even be advisable to have a new layer of wax after a few days.
If the base has turned white, this indicates that the base has dried out. No more grip in icy conditions and tried different binding positions (on a snowboard), then maintenance is needed!
How does the magic happen?
Our highly experienced maintenance experts work with Wintersteiger equipment. For maintenance of the base and grinding of the steel edges, a semi-automatic was chosen. The consistency of a fully automatic combined with a manual finishing touch where necessary. Best of both worlds!
The Waxjet is used for hot waxing. With the help of this device, an even layer of wax is applied while the base is heated at the same time. This process allows the base to absorb most of the wax. The base is then polished for a super smooth result.
Why do we do maintenance ourselves?
Where many shops choose to outsource maintenance, The Old Man chooses to do it themselves. This gives us control over the quality and the return time is a lot shorter. For years, maintenance was done at The Old Man Centrum. With the arrival of our branch The Old Man South in 2016, a workshop was created to take the quality to an even higher level. So if you are passed by on a flat path or icy slope, there is a good chance that they have been to us!
